The NAWEA/WindTech 2023 Conference was held October 30–November 1, 2023, in person at the Omni Interlocken Hotel near Denver, Colorado.
The keynote was presented by Congressman Joe Neguse, Colorado’s 2nd District Representative, and welcome speakers included Peter Green, Chief Research Officer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory; William P. Mahoney III, Research Applications Laboratory Director at the National Center for Atmospheric Research; and members of the conference’s hosting organizations. Participants also heard from Eric Lantz, Director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Wind Energy Technologies Office.
Plenary sessions focused on the near-, mid-, and long-term grand challenges of wind energy. The event’s talks and posters were followed by optional workshops, meetings, and a graduate student symposium held November 2–3, 2023. Attendees also enjoyed a Halloween party on October 31, 2023.
This year’s conference was supported by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the University of Colorado Boulder Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute, the Colorado State University Center for the New Energy Economy, the Colorado School of Mines, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and the University of Wyoming. The conference series is also supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Wind Energy Technologies Office.
